Meet the Team – Gerry Lynch

With over a decade of experience in health, safety, and wellbeing (HSW), our Chair Gerry Lynch is passionate about fostering environments where people and businesses can thrive.

His journey began during his tenure as GM of Mars NZ when he joined the business leaders health and safety forum, a  CEO-led health and safety leadership forum. Despite thinking he was doing well, he quickly realised there was much more to learn.

Later, as a board member of the Food and Grocery Council, he spearheaded a collaboration with retailers to create safer environments for sales representatives and merchandisers. This initiative led to the formation of ShopCare, an organisation dedicated to sharing insights and improving workplace safety.

In his current role as Chair, he works closely with trustees, the CEO, and the steering group to shape a strategy that drives meaningful health and safety outcomes. He focuses on learning from others, understanding businesses’ pain points, testing and proving effective practices, and building a collaborative community to amplify positive impacts.

He strongly believes in the power of collaboration and sharing good practices. Too often, businesses hesitate to share valuable insights, but even small contributions can have a significant impact. At ShopCare, we strive to uncover and share these “diamonds” to benefit as many as possible.

Outside of work, he’s an avid cyclist and gym enthusiast and enjoys off-road running with friends on weekends. He also finds creative expression through drawing and painting.

ShopCare is hugely privileged to have Gerry as our Chair with the depth of knowledge and valuable experience he brings. You’re welcome to connect with Gerry here: https://www.linkedin.com/in/gerrylynch/
